Glauco Velásquez
1884 - 1914
Glauco Velásquez's brief life did not hinder his being considered by his peers as one of the most talented Brazilian composers. His style is unique, quite original for his time, his accords most audacious. He left 123 pieces, mostly for piano and voice and piano, and an unfinished opera. Dismayed by his untimely death caused by tuberculosis, his fellow composers founded the Glauco Velásquez Society to make his work known.
