Cello

The cello is larger and produces a lower and deeper sound than a viola. Both instruments, however, belong to the family of the bowed string instruments.

How does it works?

Differently from the other instruments from the family of the bowed strings, the cello is played vertically, placed between the musician's legs, who should be seated.

A bit of history...

The old-style cellos, known as Baroque cellos, do not have an endpin. Made of metal, the endpin is the component of the modern version that touches the floor and its function is to provide support for the instrument's weight.
