Son of clarinetist and band teacher Paulo Moura. Moved to Rio de Janeiro with his family and joined the National Music School, where he obtained the degree of clarinetist. Studied with Guerra-Peixe and José Siqueira (harmony, counterpoint and fugue), Moacir Santos (orchestration) and conductor Cipó (arrangement). Considered one of the most important Brazilian instrumentalists.
