Born in Conceição, moved to Rio de Janeiro as a military musician. Graduated from the National School of Music, composed outstanding works of a resulting nationalism of research material from different regions and Brazilian cultural segments. Among them Concerto para orquestra, the series Brasilianas and the opera A Compadecida. Birth: Brasil Conceição PB, 1907
