Esther Scliar

Born in Porto Alegre, Esther moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1948 to study counterpoint, harmony and composition with H. J. Koellreutter who will influence her formation decisively. Developed a brilliant career as a composer having also written theatre plays. Among her students who succeeded in the artistic world are Milton Nascimento, Egberto Gismonti and Ronaldo Miranda.
