Djavan was born in Alagoas and as soon as he gets to Rio de Janeiro, he is hired by Globo TV to perform other composers'songs for soap operas' soundtraks. His peculiar way of singing and playing the guitar called the attention of both critics and public. He incorporated several influences to his songwriting and became renowned as national and international singer and songwriter, having been nominated for the Latin Grammy.
