Cacilda studied with Francisco Braga and worked with Villa-Lobos from the 1930's and 1940's, assuming the role of director of Rio de Janeiro's Music Service. In that period, she conducted a choir of 40 thousand voices. Cacilda also published didactic literature as "Educação musical através do teclado" (in authorship with Maria de Lourdes Junqueira Gonçalves), among others.
