Son of a Brazilian father, he spent part of his childhood in Recife and Bahia. As a teenager, he returned to Portugal to complete his studies at the University of Coimbra, where he graduated in law at the age of 24. He is the author of several poems dedicated to his beloved, Maria Dorotéia Joaquina de Seixas, "Marília de Dirceu", some of them music by Marcos Portugal. Birth: Portugal Porto , 11/8/1744
