He started studying guitar at 7 years old and in 1946 joined National Radio with his friend Garoto. Pioneer of bossa nova, Luiz is the author of Manhã de carnaval and Samba de Orfeu (both with Antonio Maria). He lived in the USA in the 60s and 70s, where achieved great recognition.
