She began his musical studies in childhood, learning piano with Mima Oswald, daughter of Henrique Oswald. Later she would have the teachers Camargo Guarnieri and Koellreutter, among others. Joined the PCB since 1936, from the end of the 1940s her work assumes a perspective of engaged art, in the mold of socialist realism and with influences of Afro-Brazilian culture.
