Hekel Tavares

In Rio de Janeiro, Hekel studied orchestration with J. Otaviano. Under nationalistic influence of the Week of Modern Art (1922), he created a characteristic repertoire. Hekel traveled throughout Brazil searching for folkloric motifs that he would use in many works, such as the symphonic poem O Anhanguera and Oração do Guerreiro.
