He was the author of classics such as Pierrô Apaixonado (with Noel Rosa) and Lá na Mangueira (with Herivelto Martins). In the late 1930s, Heitor was part of the cast of Urca's Casino, where he played and sang with Grande Othello and Josephine Backer. There he met the filmmaker Orson Welles, with whom he worked.
