Professor at Federal University of Paraíba since 2006, José Orlando Alves has a master's degree from UFRJ and concluded his PhD at UNICAMP. Among his prizes, he received an Honorable Mention in the Camargo Guarnieri National Composition Competition and won the first place in the 7th National Music Contest of IBEU (Instituto Brasil - Estados Unidos).
