Tavinho spent his childhood in Juiz de Fora and from an early age his father, mother and aunts accompanied the sound of the guitar, the cavaquinho and the mandolin. His mother moved with her children to Belo Horizonte in 1954. At age 14, Tavinho began working as a draftsman. He began his musical and artistic career composing film tracks.
