At the age of 9, he received the award for Best Solo Guitar from National Radio. In adulthood, he began playing jazz in clubs and then made his first recording with the invitation of Altamiro Carrilho. He accompained many singers like Alaíde Costa, Lúcio Alves, Angela Maria, among others. For all the work, he won the XV Shell Prize for Brazilian Music.
